Allah does not accept a prayer sent forth by an inattentive heart.”  [Tirmidhi] Ask Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) with concentration and conviction in Allah’s favour. Instead of looking at your insignificance and the enormity of your sins, look towards the unlimited kindness and countless blessings… of Allah (subhana wa ta’ala). The prayer of a person whose thoughts aren’t focused on Allah and who is only mumbling half-heartedly, on a whim, without anticipating the favour of Allah, is in vain. It is as though you put sugar in your cup of tea, but not really believing in its sweetness you didn’t stir it. Till you stir it, it won’t sweeten your tea.
